Starting my blog…

Hey guys!
I’m new to the whole blogging thing, so my apologies if my site looks a little empty or confusing. I once had a xanga back in the day, but I think the world of blogging has changed a little bit over the years
I welcome anyone to read my makeup/beauty blog – whether you’re a friend from school, a MUG, MUA, an expert or a newbie! I’m going to be writing reviews, tips, tutorials, and so on – so if you ever have questions for me, please ask! But remember that I’m not a professional so if I’m wrong about something, comment and let me know! Ideally, I would like this to not only be my blog, but an active discussion on makeup tips and beauty secrets as well.
A little about me…
I’m 22 years old, half Italian (SO close to having olive skin…so close), and the other half is a mix of mostly German, English, and some other random nationalities in there (Cherokee Indian, Spanish, Dutch, Welsh, etc. ). I’ve got medium toned skin that can get pretty tanned in the summer if I work on it, and pretty pale in the winter. My face tends to be oily, but I think I have normal skin everywhere else. I have green eyes, so I play up my plum shades more often than natural browns. I’m also in the process of going from light brown hair to blonde.
I’m really passionate about makeup and skin care, obviously. Ever since I was a little girl, I would sneak into my Mom’s (and Grandmom’s!) makeup stashes and put it all on, then act nonchalantly as if my lips were naturally ruby red, haha. Now I’ve gone through some bad makeup decisions throughout the years (especially in middle school…oy!), but who hasn’t? It’s how you learn what looks good on you and what makes you look clownish. My mom always told me that the trick to wearing makeup is to look as if you’re not wearing any at all. While I believe that’s true, I’m also obsessed with colors. I tend to experiment a little bit with them on my eyes, and obviously blue eyelids aren’t natural, haha. But you can be just as beautiful with shimmery bold colors as you can with matte naturals (as long as you don’t end up looking like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show!).
I think it would be really cool to go to beauty school so I could professionally do makeup, but I can’t cut or style hair to save my life. I’d love to hunt down a makeup school, but I’ve already spent 4 years in college as a psych major, and I’m applying for grad school to be a high school guidance counselor, so I sadly can’t go spending more money on makeup school. I can, however, spend money on makeup. And watch tutorials. And hone my skills by practicing on myself and friends. So who knows? Maybe I’ll still be able to do people’s makeup for weddings and dances and such, but be a guidance counselor too.
Okay, well that sums me up for now! Happy blogging, everybody!
Love, Krista!
